Free download: Autechre 15 Minute Mix

April 20th, 2009 | Leave a comment!

Autechre

Another day, another free music download! For your listening pleasure I’ve uploaded a recording I came across of Autechre’s 15 Minute Mix for Radio 3 Mixing It. This recording was made on 30th March 2003.

It features one of the most densely enjoyable mix sets I’ve heard, with a huge variety of tunes layered on top of each other. I can pick out snippets of things that I recognise, but for the most part I haven’t a notion where one track ends and another begins.

Fast paced

Another thing about this mix is just how much energy it has. It’s bouncy and quick and funny.

According to the radio commentary at the end, there are 30 tracks included in the mix, but unfortunately I don’t seem to be able to find a track listing.

Highly recommended! Download here from this link or click the play button below.

Part2 Records LogoIf you’re looking for some high quality sumptuous ambient free music downloads you should check out Part2 Records.

They’ve got about 6 net releases currently available and I’m already familiar with the excellent “Deployer EP” from Kids for Tomorrow (side project of Gel Sol) which is excellent. I’m half way through James Murray’s “The Miracle of Transport” which is also hitting the spot, and I’m really looking forward to checking out the other releases.

Beautiful free music release by Muhr

 Muhr - Poussiere cover

I just came across an absolutely gorgeous free music download from an artist called Muhr. The release is called Poussière and can be downloaded from the net label Serein.

It’s a 5 track release and creates a beautiful ambience. Distant strings, subtle grainy distorted noise, lush pads and lovely bass tones. Everything fits together really well and Muhr has created a wonderfully organic sound from his electronics!

Definitely worth checking out.

Gescom do some lovely things

April 24th, 2008 | Leave a comment!

I just purchased The Sound Of Machines Our Parents Used by Gescom from the Bleep store. Up until now I had a copy downloaded before it was re-released (it was quite a rare one this) which had been recorded from the vinyl and the quality wasn’t ideal.

Fortuitously, Warp have made this available as either 320kbps mp3 or in the lossless FLAC format. It’s brilliant hearing it in it’s full intended sonic glory.

What a release!

Extremely strange review of Quaristice

February 25th, 2008 | 2 Comments

I just came across this extremely strange review, if it can be called that, of Quaristice, the upcoming new Autechre album. Perhaps it is trying to be as mind bending as Autechre’s music can often be?

I pray silently among the cacophony for my stop to come but instead we are delayed due to a sick passenger at 42nd Street Times Square. I am assured by the grimy, muffled speaker above me that we should be moving shortly and that we should be patient. Only minutes earlier, this same politely authoritarian voice advised me to keep an eye out for suspicious packages and activity from my fellow passengers. Instead of figuring out whether or not to trust this fourth simultaneous assault on my senses, I turn back a page and consider how late I already am for work.

Completely unmusical, but what the hell.

I came across this random animated gif that someone’s using as their avatar on Last FM. I thought it was funny. So here it is:
